Eynesbury Homestead stands at 479 Eynesbury Road, about 40 minutes west of the Melbourne CBD, in 288 hectares of native grey box forest. Samuel Staughton began building it in bluestone in 1872, a billiard room and a ballroom were added in 1885, and after a renovation it reopened in 2020. It is heritage listed, with a long white veranda trimmed in iron lace, big lawns under old gums and palms, formal gardens with resident peacocks and an 18-hole golf course running right up to the grounds. Ms Peacock, the restaurant inside, does the catering.
Couples choose it because a whole day fits here without anyone getting in a car: the getting ready in the old rooms, the vows on the lawn, portraits a short walk away and a marquee beside the gardens for the night. This guide follows the day in order, the way we photographed Karina and Bronson's wedding here in February 2026, from ten in the morning until ten at night.
Getting ready in the homestead
The weddings page doesn't list getting ready rooms, but the estate's developer mentions a bridal suite added for preparation, and a directory lists a private room for the bridal party. Ask the venue which rooms you'll have and from what time. There is no accommodation on site yet (a 60-room hotel is planned), so everyone, the hair and makeup team included, arrives on the morning.
Karina and Bronson both got ready inside the homestead, and the rooms are a big part of why the morning photographs so well. Karina's was white, with built-in bookshelves, a grey sofa and a tall sash window set deep in the stone, which gave soft light for hair and makeup and the perfect place to hang the gown. Bronson and his groomsmen had the billiard room, with its green pool table, gold patterned wallpaper and leather chesterfield, along with the library lined with dark green shelves and a room with a bay window. Both sides were under one roof, so we moved between them in a minute.

Ceremony on the homestead lawns
Ceremonies happen outside in the grounds: on the lawns under towering gums, in the formal gardens or by the ornamental lake. The venue includes 32 white garden chairs, a signing table and a speaker with a microphone, so a small ceremony needs little else; for a bigger guest list, ask the venue about more seating. A directory gives a ceremony range of 5 to 200 guests.
Karina and Bronson married on the lawn beside the homestead, under tall gums and palms, with an old dry stone wall behind them and open country beyond it. Their guests sat in rows of white folding chairs with the bluestone and the veranda at their backs. The bridesmaids and the flower girl came down the homestead's staircase and along the curved gravel path from the veranda, the groomsmen walked the drive, and Karina followed on her dad's arm. The vows were read into the microphone, the signing was at a timber desk on the lawn, and the guests sent them back down the aisle with bubble guns.
The gums give shade on a bright afternoon. Karina and Bronson's day was overcast, which gave soft, even light on every face, so it is worth looking at where the sun will sit at your ceremony time on your venue visit.

Portraits around the homestead and the golf course
Everything here is within a few minutes' walk. Our route on Karina and Bronson's day:
- The front lawn and the veranda. The bluestone walls, pale quoins and long white veranda make the classic Eynesbury frame. A big spreading tree on the front lawn shades the family photographs.
- The curved gravel drive. It runs between two lawns, wide enough for a twirl, and it caught Karina's veil in the breeze.
- The open lawns among the palms. Room for a long train on the grass, with old gums and palms behind.
- The golf course. It runs right up to the ceremony lawn. Karina and Bronson took a golf cart out on it, laughing all the way; ask the venue about access to the course for photographs.
- The bay window. On the front of the homestead, with lavender beds below it, for a last portrait before the reception.
The venue also points to the formal gardens and their peacocks, the ha-ha wall, the grand front entrance, the ornamental lake, the old bluestone stables and the forest, which we would add on a longer portrait session. A photography policy applies to the homestead and grounds, so ask for it early. Karina and Bronson's family photographs took about half an hour after the ceremony, and their couple portraits about 45 minutes before the reception, with sunset still hours away in late February.

Reception in the marquee or the homestead
There are two main rooms for a reception, and a few smaller ones:
- The Wedding Marquee stands beside the homestead and the formal gardens. It seats up to 150, or 200 for a cocktail reception.
- The Major Tom Room is inside the homestead, with bay windows over the gardens and the golf course. It seats 32, or 60 standing, which suits a small wedding.
- The other homestead rooms, the Library, the Billiard Room, the Traveller's Room and the Sun Room, are used for smaller events and cocktail parties. The venue doesn't publish their capacities.
Catering is in-house by Ms Peacock, with formal plated, family style or cocktail menus. A directory says the music finishes at 11pm; confirm yours with the venue.
Karina and Bronson's reception was in the marquee: round tables under white drapes, two chandeliers and strings of bulbs, a bar at the far end and a long head table with a swagged white skirt and yellow and white flowers. A timber dance floor ran between the head table and a wine barrel that served as the lectern for the speeches, with a timber deck beside the marquee. Guests left messages on playing cards in a glass box, and by seven every one of them was on the dance floor for a group photograph.

A day at Eynesbury Homestead, hour by hour
This is how Karina and Bronson's day ran, with our two cameras' clocks lined up:
- 10.15am The bridesmaids' dresses on the rail in the bridal room.
- 11am The details, then hair and makeup with champagne.
- 12.15 to 2.30pm Bronson and the groomsmen in the billiard room, the library and the bay window.
- 2.50pm Karina in her gown, her dad's first look and the bridesmaids, while the guests gather on the lawn.
- 3pm The bridal party comes down the homestead stairs; Karina walks the aisle at 3.06.
- 3.15pm The vows and the rings, and the first kiss at 3.27.
- 3.30pm Signing, then the walk out through bubbles.
- 4pm The bridesmaids and the family photographs on the front lawn.
- 5pm The bridal party, then couple portraits on the lawns, the drive and the golf course until 5.50.
- 6pm Entrances into the marquee, the cake and the first dance.
- 7pm Family dances and a photo of every guest on the dance floor.
- 8.10pm Dinner and the speeches.
- 8.50pm The bouquet toss, the garter at 9.25 and dancing until 10.
In late February the sun sets around eight, so you could move the portraits later and catch the last of the light. In winter it sets before half past five, so plan the portraits for straight after the ceremony.
If it rains
The venue doesn't publish a wet weather plan for ceremonies. The reception is covered either way, in the marquee or the homestead, and a directory says indoor ceremonies are possible but names no room, so ask the venue which room would take your ceremony and for how many guests. For portraits on a wet day, the veranda, the bay windows and the homestead's old rooms, the library and the billiard room among them, give you plenty under cover. Karina and Bronson's day stayed dry under a grey sky.
Practical notes
- The address is 479 Eynesbury Road, Eynesbury VIC 3338, about 40 minutes from the Melbourne CBD. Some directories give 487; use the venue's own.
- A directory says parking is free. The venue doesn't publish transport options, so plan how guests get home after the reception, especially those staying in the city.
- There is no accommodation on site yet; the estate's planned hotel and eco lodges haven't been built.
- Ms Peacock trades as a public restaurant from Wednesday to Sunday, including Fridays and Saturdays from noon, so ask about exclusive use and which spaces are yours.
- A photography policy applies to the homestead and grounds. Ask for it before the day.
- The venue doesn't publish accessibility details. The grounds are lawn and gravel, and the bridal party came down a staircase inside, so ask about step-free routes for older guests.
- A directory says the music ends at 11pm. Confirm your finish time with the venue.
