ADELAIDE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

We cover the city, the Yarra Valley, the Mornington Peninsula, and the Dandenong Ranges. From CBD weddings at the Royal Exhibition Building to vineyard receptions at Stones of the Yarra Valley, we know the venues, the light, and how to work around Melbourne weather.

Adelaide weddings have something different. Smaller venues, more intimate guest counts, and some of the best vineyard backdrops in the country. We shoot across the Adelaide Hills, Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, and the city, with a calmer pace than what we get in Melbourne.

Weddings happen once. The flowers wilt, the cake gets eaten, and the day moves faster than anyone expects. What's left at the end of it is the people who showed up, the moments between speeches, and the photos.

We take wedding photography seriously because we have to.

There are no second takes.

We're Jay Chubby Wedding, a studio shooting weddings across Melbourne and Adelaide.

Our Approach to Wedding Photography

We work the way we'd want our own day captured. That means showing up early, knowing your timeline before you do, and keeping out of the way when something real is happening.

You won't be wrangled into 90 minutes of stiff group portraits. We get the family shots done quickly so you can get back to your guests, then we step back and let the day unfold. The photos that end up meaning the most are usually the ones nobody noticed us taking.

Our style is a mix of cinematic, editorial, and documentary. We shoot in natural light when we can, off-camera flash when we need to, and we don't run filters that'll feel dated in five years.

Photography Styles We Shoot

Most couples don't walk in knowing what style they want, and that's fine. We talk through what you've been drawn to on Pinterest, in friends' albums, on Instagram, and we work out what fits your day.

• Documentary - Candid

Hands-off, observational, story-driven. The photos look like the day actually felt. This is our default approach for most of the day.

• Editorial

A bit more directed. Considered framing, fashion-influenced lighting, intentional poses for the portrait sessions. Editorial works well for couples who want their photos to feel a bit elevated, magazine-style rather than family album.

Cinematic

Heavier contrast, richer tones, slower pace. We borrow from how wedding films are graded. This works particularly well for venues with strong architecture or dramatic light.

Hybrid

What we actually do most of the time. Documentary through ceremony and reception, editorial for portrait windows, cinematic where the venue calls for it. You shouldn't have to pick one style and live with it for the whole day.

Why Couples Choose Us

We’re not the cheapest, and we’re not trying to be. We’re also not a faceless agency that simply hands your wedding to whoever is available that weekend.

Jay Chubby Wedding is built around a small team of talented photographers and videographers, brought together by one clear creative direction. Every wedding is carefully matched with the right people, while the production, editing style, and final storytelling are guided through Jay’s vision.

That means your wedding still feels personal, consistent, and intentional, without taking away from the creativity of the photographer or videographer capturing your day.

“Jay and Sevde were absolutely fantastic. They were such a wonderful part of our celebration and made us feel so comfortable throughout the day. We absolutely love our photos. We didn’t realise we were such a handsome couple until we saw them."

Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should we book?

For peak wedding season (October through April), most couples book 13 to 16 months in advance. Dates can still be available closer to the wedding, but weekends fill quickly, especially in spring and summer.

Do you offer photography and videography combo packages?

Yes. Booking both with us means you get a coordinated team who already knows how to share angles, light, and timing. It also works out more efficient than booking separate vendors.

Do you travel between Melbourne and Adelaide?

Yes. We have base teams in both Melbourne and Adelaide. For smaller to mid-size weddings, we usually work with our local crew. For larger weddings or multi-day events, our teams can travel and combine to create a bigger crew when needed.

How many photos do we receive?

It depends on the package and the day. A typical eight-hour wedding delivers between 500 and 800 edited photos. We don’t deliver unedited files. You receive a curated selection of the strongest images, fully edited.

What's the difference between photography and videography?

Photography captures moments as still images. Videography captures motion, sound, and pacing. Most couples choose both because they tell different parts of the same story.

When will we get our photos?

Your full gallery is delivered within three weeks, often sooner. We also send a sneak peek within 48 hours so you have something to share right away.
